This year marks Brightspot’s 10th anniversary, a moment to reflect on the past decade and look ahead to the next.
When our founder, Aaron Schroeder, started Brightspot in 2015, his vision was simple but bold: to build a consulting firm that put people first. He believed that equity, work-life balance, and purpose-driven work weren’t just ideals, but the foundation for growth and success. A company that builds its people builds its business.
Ten years later, that vision continues to guide everything we do—how we work, support one another, and make an impact.
Brightspot began as a small but determined team of two, comprising Aaron and his sister, Michelle. Their belief in doing things differently quickly caught on: by 2020, Brightspot had grown to a team of twelve, earned accreditation as GHG Verification Body with the Standards Council of Canada, and built a reputation as a trusted leader in GHG accounting and verification. Over time, our services expanded to include methodology development and strategic advisory work.
Today, Brightspot is a team of 40, working from offices in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto. Our people bring a diversity of skills, perspectives, and experiences, yet we’re united by our shared values and commitment to working with integrity and authenticity. Beyond our day-to-day work, we’re proud to give back through community involvement and charitable initiatives.
One of our proudest moments came earlier this year, when Brightspot became an employee-owned company. Through the Brightspot Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), every employee is now a co-owner and beneficiary of our shared success. This milestone reinforces our commitment to shared purpose, sustainability, and collective stewardship—values that have always been part of Brightspot.
Ten years ago, Brightspot was founded on the idea that business can be done with integrity, care for the planet, and care for each other. We’re proud to be proof that this vision works.
And the next 10 years? They look even brighter.
